About us

Three friends laughing over pints around a wooden table in a pub beer garden, seen from behind

Very Brexit Problems began in 2016, on the not unreasonable assumption that a decision this daft deserved to be laughed at loudly and in public. Ten years on, having watched the promises curdle one by one, we're still here and it's still daft.

We're a very small team, which is a polite way of saying there are hardly any of us, and we have no marketing budget and no crypto billionaire with worrying opinions bankrolling us. What we do have is a working knowledge of the Office for Budget Responsibility, which is how we know Brexit is costing the country roughly 4% of GDP a year, permanently, while the man who sold it now earns over a million a year outside Parliament. For someone so troubled by the elite, that's quite a haul.

Most of what we make begins as a rant in a group chat and ends, several arguments later, with everybody laughing. Somewhere along the way the joke turned into a community. There are more than a quarter of a million of us on Facebook and Instagram now, and in an average month the things we make are seen millions of times and argued about by people who really ought to know better.

The shop is what pays for all of it. Every order keeps the lights on, the research going and the ideas coming, which makes buying something here a considerably more useful act of protest than shouting at the television.
